Lobster Claws

Heliconia rostrata

Origin: South America

Enormous pendulous flower clusters in brilliant red and gold — like a string of lobster claws hanging from a tropical canopy. Grows 2–6m tall with giant banana-like leaves. One of the most dramatic tropical plants in existence. Grows vigorously in Kigali's warmth and humidity. Needs space — excellent as an outdoor statement plant or garden feature.
